Tour Details

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking Route is perfect for anyone who wants to do short trek in low altitude and has got limited time but don’t want to miss out the high mountain views. The Himalayan views on Poon Hill Trek is one of the most significant views in the world, particularly when you climb Poon Hill as the sun rises over these beautiful mountains. The journey starts form beautiful City of Pokhara and leads to ikkhedunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani and Poon Hill. The actual walking route starts and finishes in Nayapul, looping around Ghorepani and Ghandruk trek through lush forests and farmland to narrow gorges overlooked by the magnificent mountain views.

Accommodation throughout the trek will be in teahouses. The route lead up to a challenging climb of 3300 steps up to Ulleri and follow the River Bhurungdi east past low land rice fields and thick jungles where you may see monkeys and many species of birds resting in the trees.

During this journey you will see many big mountains such as Annapurna South, Barasikha, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchru (also know as Fishtail mountain), the Dhaulagiri mountain range and Tukuche Peak, along with you will get chance to see typical Nepali villages and people who are living a very simple life. In overall the trail has easy route in low altitude which will provide you with happy memories and stories to tell for years to come, a truly unforgettable trek into the heart of the Annapurnas.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu international Airport.

Welcome to Kathmandu!
Actions: We will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel, and just relax for the rest of the day to recover from your long journey.
Accomodation: Kathmandu 3 star hotel.

Day 2Meeting with your trekking guide, shopping for your journey and touring Kathmandu.

Tourist attractions: Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swaymbhunath and Patan Durbar Square, cultural and historical sights of the Kathmandu Valley.
Accomodation: Kathmandu 3 star hotel.

Day 3Kathmandu to Pokhara By Bus.

Duration of Travel: 6-7hrs Approx.
Things to see: Exploring the route to Pokhran, stunning Fewa lake and beautiful lakeside town and enjoying the views of the Annapurnas.
Accommodation: Pokhara 3 star hotel.

Day 4From Phokhara to Nayapul by bus (2hrs Approx.) then trek to Tikhedunga.

Duration of walking: 3-4hrs Approx.
Elevation reached: 1540m.
Terrain: Easy route, Gentle inclines, well defined paths, riverbank trails.
Views on offer: The towering, snow-capped Annapurna range.
Highlights: Tasting the sweet, local oranges, walking alongside the Bhurungdi Khola.
Things to see: Traditional villages, orange groves and rice fields.
Accommodation: Teahouse.

Day 5Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani.

Hours walking: 6-7hrs Approx.
Elevation reached: 2810m
Terrain: Moderate trek, Stone staircase, steep inclines, Uphill.
Mountain Views: Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), Gandharba Chuli and Annapurana II and III.
Highlights: Conquering the 3300 steps to Ulleri to enjoy magnificent views.
Things to see: Rhododendron and oak forests, langur monkeys and musk deer.
Accommodation: Teahouse.

Day 6Ghorepani to Poon Hill and Ghandruk.

Duration of walking: 5-6hrs Approx.
Elevation reached: 3210m at Poon Hill.
Terrain: Moderate route which has Steep, hilly descents and jungle paths.
Mountain Views: Panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
Highlights: Reaching the top of Poon Hill for amazing, panoramic views.
Things to see: Poon Hill sun raise,The village of Durali and lots of langur monkeys.
Accommodation: Teahouse.

Day 7Trek to Kimchi and a 2.5hrs drive to Pokhara.

Duration of walking: 3-4hrs.
Elevation reached: 1010m in Nayapul and 850m in Pokhara.
Terrain: Easy route, gentle descents, well defined trekking paths and riverbank trails.
Mountain Views: The Annapurna range surrounding the Phewa Lake in Pokhara.
Highlights: The last day of trekking! Congratulations on finishing your trek.
Things to see: Ghandruk Village, Modi Khola River, last glimpses of the mountains.
Accommodation: Pokhara 3 star hotel.

Day 8Ride a bus to Kathmandu.

Highlights: Relaxing in the evening around Thamel.
Accommodation: Kathmandu 3 star hotel.
Note: We use standard tourist bus for Pokhara Kathmandu route, which is 200 km and take about 7 hours. Flight option is available at an extra cost.

Day 9Departure form Kathmandu
