Tour Details

Tamang Heritage trek is the closest Himalayan County from Kathmandu main city neighbouring to Tibet and easily accessible area for the tourists. Just a few hours’ drive from Kathmandu to the region, where you will see the wonderful snow-capped Himalayans, typical Tamang villages and people who are leaving very simple life.
The local Tamang communities are a small cultural group of Tibetan descent living a traditional lifestyle raising livestock, farming, making baskets and mats from mountain bamboo and trading with Kerung in Tibet. They offer a friendly welcome to passing travellers and are happy to share their rich culture.

The trail is running within the Langtang National Park; Langtang Valley is as wild as Tibetan highlands with peaceful villages and farmlands of its people, most of them are Tibetan origin. As you trek into this traditional mountain territory, you can take bathe in natural hot springs, to relax your tired muscles after a long day trekking.

Throughout the trek, you will have wonderful chance to see amazing mountain, peaks, river, plants, animals and birds.

Trekking to these routes is an opportunity to enter into the secret land exposing the Tibetan Buddhism, maintaining rich cultural heritage evident in ornately carved wooden windows, lively dance festivals, and skilled weaving traditions. The start and endpoint for this Tamang heritage trail are at SHYABRU. A trip not to be missed for those who enjoy immersing themselves in the local culture, ancient customs and traditions.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu International Airport.

Welcome to Kathmandu!
Actions: We will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel, and just relax for the rest of the day to recover from your long journey.
Accommodation: B&B/hotel.

Day 2Meeting with your trekking guide, full briefing about the trek, shopping for your journey and touring Kathmandu.

Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.

Day 3Syabru Besi

Duration of the drive: 6hrs approx.
Activities: Ride a local bus to Sybru Bensi.
Highlights: The countryside views during the drive.
Accommodation: Teahouse.

Day 4Gatlang.

Duration of walking: 4-5hrs approx.
Route: Easy to moderate.
Elevation reached: 2238m.
Terrain: Rocky paths but gentle inclines,
Mountain Views: The Ganesh Himal and Gosainkunda ranges.
Highlights: The spectacular views and walking through the Goljang Valley.
Things to see: The local monastery, approaching views of the beautiful village of Gatlang and terraced fields.
Accommodation: Local home.

Day 5Tatopani.

Duration of walking: 6-7hrs approx.
Route: Moderate.
Elevation reached: 2607m.
Terrain: Gentle inclines, river bank trails and rocky paths.
Mountain Views: Langtang ranges and The Ganesh Himal.
Highlights: Bathing in the natural hot springs of Tatopani to relax after long walking
Things to see: Bhote Koshi River and the villages of Thangbuche and Chilime.
Accommodation: Local home.

Day 6Thuman via Nagthali Danda Pass.

Duration of walking: 4-5hrs approx.
Route: Moderate.
Elevation reached: 2338m at Thuman and 3300m on the pass.
Terrain: Gradual ascents, grassland over the pass, stone steps and gentle descents.
Mountain Views: Langtang Lirung, Shishapangma, Ganesh Himal and Tibetan Himal.
Highlights: Getting to know the local people and the magnificent panoramic mountain vistas from the pass.
Things to see: The intricate wooden engravings on the local homes, wildlife, and a former, popular meditation centre for monks and priests.
Accommodation: Local home.

Day 7Timure.

Duration of walking: 4.
Route: Easy.
Elevation reached: 1762m.
Terrain: Gentle descents and some “Nepali flat” over rocky, grassy and dirt tracks.
Views on offer: The open valley and surrounding snow-capped peaks.
Highlights: Visiting Rasuwa Gadhi, an ancient reminder of the Tibet-Nepal relations that have existed for centuries.
Things to see: The old fort at Rasuwa Gadhi and a suspension bridge that links Nepal to Tibet.
Accommodation: Local home.

Day 8Bridhim

Hours of walking: 5-6hrs approx.
Route: Easy to moderate.
Elevation reached: 2239m.
Terrain: Gentle ascents, well-defined trekking paths and riverbank and forest trails.
Views on offer: Langtang Himal.
Highlights: Arriving at the beautiful village of Bridhim for a warm welcome, looking out over the 40 local homes of the village, spread across the hillside in a Z shape.
Things to see: The Bhote Koshi River and Rhododendron tree forests, exploring the Dukchu Gompa You will have the opportunity to really experience the Tamang hospitality during your stay here.

Day 9Sybru Bensi

Duration of walking: 5-6hrs approx.
Route: Easy to moderate.
Elevation reached: 1503m.
Terrain: Well defined trekking paths, gentle and some steep descents, a ridge path and riverbank and forest trails.
Views on offer: the Bhote Koshi Valley, Gosaikunda Ridge and Ganesh Himal.
Highlights: The views from the ridge from Sherpagaon village.
Things to see: the village of Sherpagaon, Pine forests and wildlife.
Accommodation: Teahouse.

Day 10Return to Kathmandu

Ride a local bus to Kathmandu
Duration- 5-6hrs approx.
Activities: once you arrive at Kathmandu you have your free time in the afternoon.
Highlights: Congratulation for completing an amazing journey to the Himalayas, it is time for you to relax and celebrate the success!
Accommodation: B&B/ hotel.

Day 11Departure from Kathmandu

Time to go home with unforgettable memories and tell your friends and family of the fun and adventure that you had on your trek in Nepal. Or, you could also extend your trip. We can arrange many other tours and trips for you, such as River Rafting Adventure, Chitwan Jungle Safari, Scenic Flight, Cycling or even another trek in a different region.
