Tour Details

Upper Mustang trek starts from beautiful Pokhara then by air or flight we reach Jomson. The new adventurous trek begins from Jomsom and lead up to Kagbeni and beyond. North of Kagbeni, known as upper Mustang looks comparable to the Tibetan plateau with it has an astonishing wilderness, pristine scenery, snow-capped peaks, spectacular 16th-century monasteries and many other unique attractions. The view of windswept Kali-Gandaki valley, vast spaces around Kagbeni and vast ridges that struggle high mountains provide an unforgettable experience. Upper Mustang lies beyond the Annapurna ridge and bordered on three sides by Tibet. Upper Mustang is the last of the untouched lands in the Himalayas, and here you will find Lo-Manathang, the only walled city in Nepal and the capital of Mustang. Its name translates from the Tibetan as “plains of aspiration” and has its own King so is a kingdom within a country! The area is inhabited by Loba people and only opened to tourists in 1992. It is still a restricted area and a number of trekkers permitted into the area are controlled as to preserve the natural beauty and charm of the region.

The trail provide some breath-taking scenery whilst camping under the stars amidst the beauty of the Himalayas. The local people are of Tibetan descent and honour the traditions and customs of their ancestors. Their lifestyle is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the modern cities; they herd yaks, farm their own food and trade with goods with Tibet.
